Make Your Tools Your Own

Without getting into the I’m busier than you are debate, I have to agree with Lili in that I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. Well, maybe overwhelmed and a little frustrated.

I too have found myself spending many hours reading everyone’s blogs only to find that precious time has passed by. Although I can appreciate and find personal value in some blog entries, I don’t always have comments for other’s personal experiences if they don’t happen to pertain directly to the course content. With that said, when I read other blogs and come across something that I myself can incorporate into my own teaching and learning, then I find it necessary to pass along a thank you. That is, after I have spent time playing around, trying to figure out this new and great technology for myself so that I can reply with an anecdotal comment of my own.

Sometimes I do find it helpful to have a quota for required content, along with a deadline. However, this is my first online course and I am sort of a traditional sort of fellow. This is just my personal opinion.

I wish my comments could be more beneficial to coming up with a solution to our online learning dilemma, but as I reread my comments it sounds more like ranting and raving to me.

Hey Skelly, do you have Bloglines set up. It tells me when changes has been made to any blog. I spend less time reading everyones since I only have to look at them once they have something new, it saves a bunch of time. Let me know if you need any information, I am glad to help.

I have read your blog and appreciate what you have said. Sometimes it’s enough to read a blog and think on it.

This has certainly been an experience. It is hard to believe that we have only been at it for just over a month or so. It seems like we have been working on this stuff for a year. I hope that we are able to create some central location with all of our newly found tools. I am finding it difficult to keep track of all of the new links. The delicious is helping, but that is getting somewhat cluttered and cumbersome.

Ranting and raving is fine and any clues are helpful. I hope we are able to keep working together after the course is done. Maybe we can take up Michaels idea and set up a semi-permanent bog or wiki for this cohort and build a new one for the next group. What do you think?

I agree and I am guilty… stick to course content comment Dana. My only problem here is that it is hard for me to carry on a conversation with those who speak a different language than I… I can understand, I can associate but adding meaningful constructive dialogue to the game plan I cannot yet do – send me to the minors.

Reading and keeping up with everything is fine but we have to take time and use the tools to make them our own. I am enjoying this course because I get to try out new tools that I otherwise may never use or investigate. I am finding something almost everytime I read everyone’s blogs. Thanks.
